Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) advised BUSD to develop a budget stabilization plan to address continued deficit spending with their 2019-20 budget approval. SCCOE then required the board to adopt a resolution along with a stabilization plan as part of the 2021-22 budget approval. On June 15, 2021, the board of trustees adopted Resolution 20-13 committing to identifying $6M in reductions for 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The BUSD Budget Stabilization Committee was formed in May 2022 as a result and recently held its 6th meeting on May 31, 2023, and developed a list of proposed reductions and increased revenue ideas. The committee will present its priority of recommendations by November 2023.
