Mission Statement

The mission of Berryessa Education Foundation is to increase student learning by making grants available to district teachers.  The focus of those grants will be on expanding the opportunities for student learning through improved instructional strategies based on the creative use of technology and other instructional materials.

Our Organization

The foundation was formed in 1992 as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation under the leadership of then San Jose Mayor, Chuck Reed.  Since then, BEF has contributed over $300,000 to teachers in Berryessa Union School District to support new, and creative approaches and opportunities for student success.

The Grant Program

BEF is able to provide assistance to teachers to explore new ideas and strategies that use technology or other instructional materials that will stimulate students to learn in new ways and stimulate their creativity and success in school.  Over 13,000 students have benefited from grants made by BEF.  Grants have funded the creative ideas of over 140 teachers representing all of the schools in the district to find new ways to make a difference to over 8,100 of the district's students.

The grants have impacted all curricular areas.  Many grants have been replicated by other teachers and have been implemented district wide after being adopted by the district.
